Excursiones Musicales

 Hosted by Dr. Susan Hurley-Glowa

Since October 5, 2012, Excursiones Musicales has been aired on Fridays at noon on 88 FM KMBH Public Radio. In the 30 minute weekly episodes, the show focuses on local musical activities, making connections between them and sounds from around the world.  Emphasis is on music that relates to the Rio Grande Valley’s Latin heritage but the show moves freely between world, classical, and folk styles, putting the music into context through brief introductions whenever possible to enhance the listening experience. Excursiones Musicales is associated with the UTB Center of Excellence for Latin American and Iberian Music, which pools together our faculty’s strengths and interests in these areas. I teach music at UTB, which will soon be combined with our partners at UTPA to form the new University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
